book or receive coaching services,
-
sign up for email updates, or
-

2) The information we collect
We collect information in three main ways: (1) you give it to us, (2) it’s created during service delivery, or (3) it’s collected automatically through the website.
A. Information you provide
-
Contact details: name, email address, phone number
-
Scheduling details: availability, time zone, appointment details
-
Payment and billing: invoices/receipts and transaction confirmations (payment card details are usually handled by our payment processor—not stored directly by us)
-
Intake / coaching details: anything you choose to share about goals, experiences, preferences, boundaries, and history relevant to coaching
B. Information created during coaching
-
Session notes: We may keep brief notes to support continuity and quality of service. We aim to keep notes minimal and focused on coaching goals.
C. Website and device data (automatic)
-
Technical data: IP address, browser type, device identifiers, operating system
-
Usage data: pages viewed, links clicked, time on site
-
Cookies and similar technologies: described below
3) Sensitive data and “consumer health data”
Under MODPA, “sensitive data” includes personal data revealing, among other things, sex life and sexual orientation.
MODPA also defines “consumer health data” as personal data used to identify a consumer’s physical or mental health status, including data related to reproductive or sexual health care.
How we handle it
-
We only collect and use sensitive information when it’s needed for the services you request (and/or when you choose to share it).
-
We do not sell sensitive data, and MODPA restricts selling sensitive data.
-
If you prefer, you can keep details high-level in email and share more in-session.
4) How we use your information
We use personal information to:
-
provide coaching services you request,
-
schedule sessions and send reminders,
-
process payments and maintain basic records,
-
respond to messages and support requests,
-
send newsletters/updates if you opt in (you can unsubscribe anytime),
-
improve and secure our website and services.
We follow a “collect what we need” approach consistent with MODPA’s emphasis on limiting collection/processing to what is necessary for the requested service.

5) How we share information
We share information only as needed for operations, such as with:
-
Scheduling providers (e.g., booking platform)
-
Payment processors (e.g., Stripe/PayPal/etc.)
-
Video/telehealth platforms (e.g., Zoom/Google Meet)
-
Email and messaging providers (e.g., email service)
-
Website hosting and analytics providers (e.g., site host, analytics tools)
We share the minimum information needed for these providers to perform their services.
These vendors may process data under their own privacy policies.
We do not sell personal data.
We do no use tools that could be considered “targeted advertising” under privacy laws.

6) Cookies, analytics, and “Do Not Track”
We may use cookies and similar technologies to:
-
keep the website functioning,
-
understand how visitors use the site,
-
improve performance and content.
You can manage cookies through your browser settings and (if enabled) any cookie banner/preferences tool on our site.
7) Your privacy rights (including Maryland MODPA)
A. MODPA summary (Maryland residents)
MODPA applies to certain businesses that meet thresholds (for example, processing personal data of 35,000+ consumers in the prior year, or 10,000+ plus deriving 20%+ of revenue from selling personal data).
Whether or not we meet these thresholds at a given time, we aim to honor privacy choices in the spirit of these rights.

Under MODPA, consumers have rights that include:
-
confirming whether we process your personal data and accessing it,
-
correcting inaccuracies,
-
requesting deletion (with some legal/recordkeeping exceptions),
-
obtaining a copy (portability),
-
opting out of certain processing (e.g., targeted advertising, sale, and certain profiling).
-

B. Response timelines and appeals
MODPA generally requires responding to consumer requests within 45 days, with a possible 45-day extension when reasonably necessary.
If we deny a request, we’ll explain why and provide information on how to appeal. MODPA provides that controllers must respond to an appeal within 60 days.
MODPA also notes one free request per 12-month period (with limited exceptions for excessive requests).

C. How to submit a request
Email us at info@updateyourintimacy.com with:
-
your name,
-
the email you used with us (if applicable),
-
what you’re requesting (access/correction/deletion/copy/opt-out).
We may need to verify your identity for certain requests (MODPA also notes opt-out requests may not require authentication).
8) Data retention
We keep information only as long as reasonably necessary for:
-
providing services,
-
recordkeeping (including tax/accounting),
-
resolving disputes, and
-
complying with legal obligations.
-
coaching records/notes: [e.g., during the client relationship + 2 years]
-
Billing records: [e.g., 7 years for tax/accounting]
9) Security
We use reasonable administrative, technical, and physical safeguards designed to protect your information. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, but we work to reduce risk (and keep data collection minimal—especially around sensitive topics).
10) Age limitation
Our services are intended for adults 21+. We do not knowingly collect personal data from anyone under 21.

11) International visitors
If you access our site from outside the U.S., your information may be processed in the United States where privacy laws may differ from your location.
12) Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will post the updated version on this page and revise the “Last Updated” date.
